Let my new sizzling 29-piece fabric collection bring out your hidden contemporary art skills with dazzlingly bright colors and bold graphics. The quilt has optional areas for machine quilting, embroidery, plus hand or machine appliqué. Enjoy the easy machine piecing techniques.

Kit fee $75. Includes the pattern, 13 yds. mostly pre-cut fabric for top, backing, and binding.

Pattern fee $10 IF you wish to use your own fabrics. Contact Linda so she can send the yardages to pre-cut for class.

Silhouette on Batiks

Create the background first! Machine piece a simple 40-inch square batik background with borders that will provide a beautiful, graphic canvas for an elegant appliqué in the foreground. Easy rotary cutting, machine piecing techniques and needleturn hand appliqué are taught. Choose one of two circular Scherenschnitte silhouettes to create in class on the straight set only.

Supplies: Rotary cutter with new blade and medium size mat; (1)18 inch sq. freezer paper, thread color to match appliqué silhouette; a neutral color thread for piecing top background; paper and fabric scissors; a no-smudge fabric marker or purchase available in class; appliqué needle or purchase available in class. Fabrics for top - (1) generous 1/2 yd. each of (3) batik prints of same color and value, i.e. 3 medium reds, 3 light blues or 3 medium dark greens, etc. Prior to class, pre-cut 3 strips of each print 5-1/2 inches wide x 24 inches long on cross grain. (Remnants to be used for corners and binding.); (1) 27 inch square either very dark OR very bright batik print for silhouette; (1) 1 yd. batik print for borders. Pre-cut (4) 5-1/2 inches wide x 30-1/2 inches long; (1) 3/4 yd. batikprint for serpentine vine and leaves.
